Event Details
We are happy to announce we will have a support group meeting open to anyone with a voice condition as it will be on Zoom, May 21st at 10am ET!
Co-leaders Laura Rahuba and Ilene Cooper look forward to seeing you all then!
We would like to get to know each other and understand what concerns you most as we cope with Spasmodic Dysphonia and other communication disorders. In particular, we can discuss difficulties we have in communicating and talk about some ways we can help each other with this. How is this disorder affecting you? Maybe some of your strategies will help someone else.
We can use some ideas including those from Peaceful Mom (online) on coping with “stinking thinking”. Thoughts, feelings and behaviors are all connected and affect one another. When you are alone or even with someone it’s important to hear some encouraging words to keep us motivated to help us endure and learn ways to cope with the anxiety/pain of communication disorders, and that is why we encourage you to attend this important support group meeting!
As always, we welcome Charlie Reavis, President of the National Spasmodic Dysphonia Association, to update us on news of research coming down the pike! Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns or issues you would like to see raised.
Remember, we are all in this together and helping to support and educate one another on our experiences with communication disorders helps engender hope as well as knowledge.
Yours,
Laura Rahuba, rahuba72@yahoo.com

Daniel was a son, brother, animal lover, artist, animator, poet, rapper, musician and extraordinary soul who was filled with extraordinary faith while conquering enormous challenges after being diagnosed with Spasmodic Dysphonia at 19 years old. His story is a story of triumph, victory, courage and understanding. “We don’t yet see things clearly. We are squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing Him directly just as He knows us!”
