ATLANTA SPASMODIC DYSPHONIA SUPPORT GROUP MEETING
WHEN | Saturday, December 4, 2021
TIME | 12:00 Noon EST
Dear Atlanta Support Group,
I am happy to announce we will be having a support group meeting open to all areas as it will be on Zoom, on Saturday, December 4, at 12 PM EST! Feel free to bring your lunch. Laura and I wanted to give you a heads up on the agenda:
We will discuss a new book: “Speechless No More: A Life Transformed By A Voice Disorder”, a memoir by former NSDA President, Dot Sowerby. The book covers Dot’s struggles with a voice disorder that rendered her speech tremulous and broken, but became a lesson in courage and persistence. Both distressing and inspiring, her quest to find answers to the cause o her voice condition and find a treatment for it is told with honesty and spirit. NSDA Board Member from California, Marcia Sterling, worked closely with Dot on her new book and she will also be joining the discussion. You may purchase the book by clicking HERE
We are also happy to announce that we won the Midge Kovac’s Awareness Award and Ilene will show what it looks like (it’s gorgeous!).
Discussion of the results of the very successful 2021 NSDA Walk for Talk Fundraiser.
Some news from the National Spasmodic Dysphonia Association; a new song was written for our community by guitarist Wendy Jean Garrison and Grace Askew. This is called “I Have a Voice” and can be listened to on www.Dysphonia.org.
What we love about the website are the stories as one person’s story is the story of all of us. Please join us on December 4th and we hope to be able to share some of our stories as we talk about the book.
We look forward to seeing you on zoom, and catching up with each other!

“We don’t yet see things clearly. We are squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing Him directly just as He knows us!”
