Please join us for a virtual meeting on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM ET.
Her topic will be a series of short videos which she has recently produced to raise awareness about voice disorders.
Our guest speaker will be Area Contact Leader (ACL) from WA, Sue Abrams. She is a nurse who has had a voice disorder since 1991. She has undergone speech therapy and Botox injections. This is the second time that Sue has served as guest speaker for our North Carolina virtual meetings.
Living with Spasmodic Dysphonia: The Broken Word

Sue Abrams, and her husband Ken, created a series of short videos that talk about living with a voice disorder, particularly spasmodic dysphonia. In Part 1, Sue shares her journey with spasmodic dysphonia, discussing the challenges and also her positive outlook. Part 2 delves into the daily struggles and coping strategies Sue uses with her spasmodic dysphonia. In Part 3, Ken, provides insight into supporting a loved one with a speech disorder, emphasizing the importance of patience and understanding. The series also highlights the efforts of Dysphonia International in funding research for voice conditions.

ALIVE FOREVER MOREAugust 24, 1984 – December 20, 2020 (36 years old)
Daniel was a son, brother, animal lover, artist, animator, poet, rapper, musician and extraordinary soul who was filled with extraordinary faith while conquering enormous challenges after being diagnosed with Spasmodic Dysphonia at 19 years old. His story is a story of triumph, victory, courage and understanding. Daniel left many life lessons and through his experience on earth he will continue to touch lives inspiring us all to be more aware and to build more awareness of what brought him home. Daniel is a warrior and his inspiration that has been collected by his family will be used to bring hope and to change the world!
