Please join the Greater Columbus Dysphonia Support Group for their next virtual meeting on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM ET.
At our meeting, Dr. N. Scott Howard, MD, MBA, FACS, from University Hospitals in Cleveland, will be our guest speaker. Dr. Howard recently presented “Surgical Approaches to Vocal Issues” at the Dysphonia International Symposium in Detroit.
We encourage our meeting attendees to watch the recording on the Dysphonia International YouTube Channel before the meeting. Dr. Howard will answer questions about the information in the presentation as well as other questions we have about our voice disorders. We are excited to have him with us and hope you will attend too!
About Our Guest Speaker | Dr. Howard is the Director of the Voice, Airway and Swallowing Center at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. He is a board-certified head and neck surgeon specializing in airway, voice and swallowing problems – offering complex surgical and minimally invasive office procedures. This includes surgical procedures for vocal fold paralysis, surgery for spasmodic dysphonia (SLAD-R) as well as for dysphagia/aspiration (including Zenker’s), and open and endoscopic surgery for airway stenosis and laryngeal cancer.
Dr. Howard attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and the University of Florida. He completed a two-year fellowship with Dr. Gerald Berke at UCLA, where he honed his diagnostic and surgical skills within the subspecialty of laryngology, voice disorders, and broncho-eschatology. Following his education, he served in the US Army, completing his service as a Colonel in the Medical Corps before joining the University Hospitals.
Dr. Howard enjoys his role as an academic otolaryngologist, teaching residents and medical students both the art and the science of medical practice. His research interests focus on treating trauma to the larynx, tumors of the larynx, laryngeal biomechanics, laryngeal imaging, neurolaryngology and spasmodic dysphonia.

“We don’t yet see things clearly. We are squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing Him directly just as He knows us!”
