Please join us for a virtual meeting on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM CT.
We are pleased to have the following speakers for our meeting. Dr. Lester-Smith, from the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Texas in Austin, will discuss behavioral therapies for tremor and dystonia affecting voice. She recently published a systematic review on this topic. We are also pleased to have her PhD student Nayanika Ghosh who recently published a voice therapy study concerning speakers that have essential tremor. They have offered to also give us a tour of the Voice Lab.
If you have questions about Spasmodic Dysphonia or other voice disorders, please come and join us. We can talk about treatments, doctors, insurance, and whatever people want to discuss. Our support group provides a comfortable place to talk. Discussions can be informative for the newly diagnosed as well as those who have been dealing with Spasmodic Dysphonia or other voice disorders for many years. Family, friends, and others with an interest are welcome to attend.

Parking Information
There are a few free parking passes available in the clinic garage for support group members for that day. The clinic garage is located on the ground floor of the CMA building, which is accessible from eastbound Dean Keeton Street. There are only 7 clinic parking spots, and we cannot hold them. So if the spots fill up, the back-up parking option would be the San Antonio Garage about a 5 minute walk away. Click here for garage parking details .
In 2022, the Dysphonia International (historically named the National Spasmodic Dysphonia Association) standardized the names of all the support groups around the country and our group is now called the Austin Dysphonia Support Group. We try to meet about twice a year to provide a support group for area people with Spasmodic Dysphonia and other related voice disorders.
Hosted by Austin Support Group Leader Rose Farmer.

“We don’t yet see things clearly. We are squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing Him directly just as He knows us!”
— 1 Corinthians 13:12We Love You Always Dan!
