Our guest speaker will be Katie Marks, PhD, CCC-SLP, who works at Emory Voice Center in Atlanta GA as a Speech Language Pathologist and Researcher. Dr. Marks will discuss how laryngeal dystonia (AKA spasmodic dysphonia) is diagnosed, what the challenges are, and what her research aims to improve. She’ll also compare and contrast Laryngeal Dystonia and Muscle Tension Dysphonia, specifically the acoustic measures that have been used to support a differential diagnosis between LD and MTD. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask Dr. Marks questions and to share with her anything they think she – as a researcher of this disorder – should know about the patient experience.
