You are invited to a virtual session of the Greater
Midwest Area Spasmodic Dysphonia Support Groups.
 
We are excited to welcome our Guest Speaker, Arash Mahnan. Arash Mahnan is a Ph.D. Candidate and MnDrive Fellow at the University of Minnesota, where his research focus is the study of neurophysiological mechanisms behind neurological movement disorders and the development of medical devices for neurorehabilitation. He holds an MS in biomedical engineering from Tehran Polytechnic University, Iran. Since 2016, he has been involved in a string of projects that concerns a potential new treatment for voice disorder spasmodic dysphonia (SD) through vibro-tactile stimulation (VTS) of the larynx. In addition, he has designed a wearable device that is currently undergoing usability and feasibility testing for the future application of VTS in spasmodic dysphonia.
 
After the guest speaker presentation, Teresa Dunn, Greater St. Louis Area Support Group Leader and Dorothy Tannahill-Moran, Kansas City Area Support Group Leader will lead a discussion.
