This support group has been provider-led since its start in 2017. Greenville ENT and Dysphonia International prefer that support groups be led by patients for a host of reasons. A patient with personal experience of a chronic voice disorder is the ideal leader due to their innate ability to relate to other members of the group on a more personal level, and to choose meeting topics that feel most relevant to the group’s needs. We feel that a passionate patient leader will also be highly successful in growing the group and its reach. Our goal is to “pass the baton” to a patient leader by the close of 2024. If this sounds exciting, but intimidating, never fear! Dysphonia International will provide you with training and resources to help easily maintain the group, and will walk alongside you every step of the way.
