You are invited to join us for our next online meeting of the Voice Empowerment Group (VEG) of Alabama on Sunday, August 8, at 2 pm Central Time.
Our meeting topic will be “Vocal eases to help the voice with and without Botox” with speakers Samantha Kridgen, MS CCC-SLP and Edie R. Hapner, PhD CCC-SLP.
About the Speakers | Samantha is the first clinical speech-language pathology fellow at the UAB Voice Center. She earned her MS-SLP from MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston, MA with a concentration in voice disorders. Dr. Hapner is professor of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, co-director of the UAB Voice Center, and director of speech and hearing at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Among her honors, Dr. Hapner was named the George W. Barber Jr., Foundation Endowed Professor in 2021, ASHA Fellow in 2019, Associate Fellow of the American Laryngological Association, and Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice. Dr. Hapner has also received the GSHA’s Clinician of the Year, The University of Missouri’s Education Program Alumnae of the Year, and the Clinical Scholar designation of the AAO-HNS. Dr. Hapner has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and six book chapters on voice and voice disorders, and she is the coeditor of Voice Therapy: Clinical Case Studies.

Daniel Lee Bray
ALIVE FOREVER MOREAugust 24, 1984 – December 20, 2020 (36 years old)
Daniel was a son, brother, animal lover, artist, animator, poet, rapper, musician and extraordinary soul who was filled with extraordinary faith while conquering enormous challenges after being diagnosed with Spasmodic Dysphonia at 19 years old. His story is a story of triumph, victory, courage and understanding. Daniel left many life lessons and through his experience on earth he will continue to touch lives inspiring us all to be more aware and to build more awareness of what brought him home. Daniel is a warrior and his inspiration that has been collected by his family will be used to bring hope and to change the world!
