Please join us on Zoom for a combined meeting of our three Northern California SD Support Groups on Saturday, Oct. 2, at 4:00 pm. The meeting should last about an hour.
With all the ups and downs of the Covid crisis, I had to cancel our backyard picnic this summer. This online meeting will just be a quick catch-up, including our support for the recently-announced NSDA Walk-for-Talk. We will also be talking about a new book by former NSDA President and current board member, Dot Sowerby, Speechless No More, which I think you will find inspirational and can be bought from the NSDA website for $15. We hope lots of you will read it because we want to have a follow-up meeting online in December and invite Dot to come to talk about the book. (I’m attaching a letter Dot put together for purchasers of the book to give you a feel for it.)
Even if you can’t make it on Oct. 2, please consider making a contribution to the Walk-for-Talk (donations are matched by an anonymous donor and this is our big event to support SD research) and also buying Dot’s book (which I’m very familiar with because I helped edit it and which makes a great gift for friends or family who don’t really “get” what we go through with SD).
To contribute to Walk-for-Talk: Go to https://www.givesignup.org/WalkforTalk and click on “Donate,” then on “Top Fundraising Teams.” Look for the team called “Northern California Goes for the Gold” (that’s us) and click the “View” button below that name to donate.
To buy Speechless No More: Go to https://nsda.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/nsda/giftstore.jsp (the NSDA store). You can order the book there.
Hope everybody is well and hope to see many of you on Oct. 2 on Zoom. I’ll resend this link before the meeting, but we will be at: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7433128666?pwd=eitXNVRxQjFPbThvOHhWKzF4WlBkdz09

Daniel was a son, brother, animal lover, artist, animator, poet, rapper, musician and extraordinary soul who was filled with extraordinary faith while conquering enormous challenges after being diagnosed with Spasmodic Dysphonia at 19 years old. His story is a story of triumph, victory, courage and understanding. Daniel left many life lessons and through his experience on earth he will continue to touch lives inspiring us all to be more aware and to build more awareness of what brought him home. Daniel is a warrior and his inspiration that has been collected by his family will be used to bring hope and to change the world!
“We don’t yet see things clearly. We are squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing Him directly just as He knows us!”
