The North Carolina Dysphonia Support Groups invite you to join us for our virtual gathering on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM EST.
Our topic will be about “Stress Reduction Benefits of Soma Yoga for People Who Have SD and Other Vocal Conditions”.
The excitement of the holidays combined with the change of seasons can stress our systems and worsen challenges such as vocal dysphonias and other life issues. Join us for a NC Virtual Support Group session that will help you learn how to gently work with stress and find a deeper connection to yourself!
Mary Susan Chen, a Physical Therapist and Somatics teacher, will invite our group to participate in a somatic practice of releasing muscle tension and stress, and creating a fuller, freer You! These methods are shown to quiet your nervous system, stimulate your curiosity and improve your body awareness. You will be invited to participate at your own ability, or simply listen. We’ll have time for Q&A and sharing our successes.
After 35+ years as a Physical Therapist, and over 20 years as a practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education®, in 2021 Mary Susan founded Freedom of Motion Wellness LLC, to bring the wisdom of Somatics and Physical Therapy to the general public. She brings experience treating people with persistent conditions including 10 years using Somatics and biofeedback at a major medical center’s Pain Management Center.
Mary Susan teaches online and in-person in the Chicago area. She works with people individually and in groups, offering Awareness Through Movement®, SomaYoga, and tai chi, as well as leading an exercise support group for people with long Covid.
You may contact her at https://marysusanchen.com
The Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education®, Functional Integration®, and Awareness Through Movement® are registered service marks of the Feldenkrais Guild of North America. www.feldenkrais.com
Important: While our presenter is a physical therapist, this session is not to be considered medical advice or individual therapy. Please follow the advice of your personal health care team and make decisions in your best interests.
Rebecca Cole-Turner will serve as facilitator along with Mary Bifaro, her co-leader of this support group.
Since this meeting is virtual, all are welcome to attend no matter your location!

“We don’t yet see things clearly. We are squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing Him directly just as He knows us!”
