The Greater Columbus Dysphonia Support Group invites you to join us for our virtual gathering on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM EST.
Do you have questions about botulinum toxin injections for laryngeal dystonia? Would you like an opportunity to learn more and ask your questions? Please join us for our next virtual support group meeting on January 25, 2023, 7:00-8:00 p.m.. Dr. Aaron D. Friedman will be our guest speaker and will help us all learn more. It’ll be a great time, and we hope to see you then!
About Dr. Friedman | Aaron D. Friedman, MD specializes in treating voice, airway and swallowing disorders, and is a partner with Rebecca Howell, MD and Sid Khosla, MD, at the UC Health Voice and Swallowing Center.
Following his medical school training at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Friedman did his residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the Cleveland Clinic under the mentorship of the first surgeon in the world to transplant a human larynx (voice box).
This piqued Dr. Friedman’s interest in the field of laryngology and led to a dedicated year of research in his mentor’s laryngeal transplantation laboratory for which Dr. Friedman was awarded a first-place national resident research award. Dr. Friedman then went on to complete a fellowship in laryngeal surgery at the Harvard University-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital Voice Center. There, he was mentored by a world-renowned laryngeal surgeon who operated on such famous voices as those of Adele, Sam Smith, Steven Tyler, Lionel Richie and Roger Daltrey.
Dr. Friedman brings the same state-of-the-art laryngeal treatments that were developed in Boston to Cincinnati. In concert with the UC Health Voice and Swallowing Centers’ talented team of voice pathologists, who provide vocal behavioral and rehabilitative therapy, Dr. Friedman specializes in the surgical treatment of laryngeal disorders including phonomicrosurgery, laryngeal framework surgery, office-based laryngeal procedures (including lasers and vocal cord injections) and use of the KTP laser.
He has over a decade of clinical experience in treating patients with vocal cord cancer and pre-cancer (dysplasia), recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP), airway stenosis, vocal cord paralysis, benign vocal cord lesions (nodules, cysts, and polyps) and spasmodic dysphonia.
In his prior clinical practice, Dr. Friedman drew on this expertise to help save the voice of a beloved Chicago Cubs radio announcer from vocal cord pre-cancer. Today, Dr. Friedman continues striving to help all voice users, both professional and casual. Dr. Friedman’s research interests include optimizing voice outcomes in the surgical treatment of early-stage vocal cord cancer and developing new techniques for managing airway stenosis.
He has published dozens of peer-reviewed articles and has lectured both nationally and internationally in the field of laryngology.

“We don’t yet see things clearly. We are squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing Him directly just as He knows us!”
