Hello from the co-chairs of the Portland Area Spasmodic Dysphonia Support Group!
Happy Spring to you all. We are very excited to announce our first in-person meeting in a long while. It will be held in downtown Portland at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1126 SW Park Ave, on Saturday, April 30, from 1-3pm. The Church is across the street from the entrance of the Portland Art Museum. You can park on the street or in a nearby parking garage. We will be entering the building through a small maroon colored door on the SW Madison Street side of the church. Please ring the doorbell if there is no one outside to greet you.
This is going to be a social time, of seeing old friends and meeting new ones. The agenda will consist of chatting amongst ourselves, having a few announcements, and breaking into small groups to discuss our experiences, challenges and victories.
Snacks, non-alcoholic beverages, and information will be provided.
Some of us are immunocompromised so we are asking that everyone wear a mask for the duration of our meeting.
We look forward to seeing you, catching up, and hearing your story!
NOTE: We realize that this meeting date is the same day as the NSDA Symposium. However, you can still listen to the morning symposium presentations (which will start at 8:00 am PST), and catch the afternoon presentations at a later date at your leisure when they are posted on the NSDA’s website.

Daniel was a son, brother, animal lover, artist, animator, poet, rapper, musician and extraordinary soul who was filled with extraordinary faith while conquering enormous challenges after being diagnosed with Spasmodic Dysphonia at 19 years old. His story is a story of triumph, victory, courage and understanding. Daniel left many life lessons and through his experience on earth he will continue to touch lives inspiring us all to be more aware and to build more awareness of what brought him home. Daniel is a warrior and his inspiration that has been collected by his family will be used to bring hope and to change the world!
“We don’t yet see things clearly. We are squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing Him directly just as He knows us!”
