We are all adapting to a new way of life because of the challenges caused by the COVID-19 virus. For some, it is limiting treatment options for people with spasmodic dysphonia and related voice conditions since many healthcare professionals are postponing in-person consultations and treatment to ensure the health and safety of both patients and providers.
Many speech-language pathologists are now expanding their services by offering online appointments through telepractice. ASHA adopted the term telepractice rather than the frequently used terms telemedicine or telehealth to avoid the misperception that these services are used only in health care settings. Other terms such as telespeech, and speech teletherapy are also used by practitioners in addition to telepractice.
If you are now offering appointments via telepractice to your voice patients, we encourage you to add that information to your profile on the NSDA Healthcare Directory. You can easily do this by filling out an update form here.
Click here search for your profile (by state and then click on the city). Once submitted, it will be updated by our NSDA office and appear on your profile.
Thank you for your continued commitment to the voice community!
