EXPANDING CONNECTIONS: Introducing Two New Specialized Virtual Support Meetings

At Dysphonia International, we recongize that every voice journey is unique, and that support looks different depending on where you are on that path. To better serve our community, we are excited to offer two specialized virtual meeting opportunities. One is designed for individuals who are newly diagnosed with a voice disorder, providing a space to ask questions, connect with others, and gain guidance as you navigate the early stages of a voice disorder. The other is for people supporting those with a voice disorder, offering strategies, shared experiences, and support for those helping someone live with a voice condition. We hope you will join us!

STARTING YOUR VOICE JOURNEY: Virtual support meetings for people newly diagnosed with a voice disorder

Receiving a voice disorder diagnosis can feel like a lot to absorb, especially in the early days when questions come quickly and next steps may feel uncertain. This series provides a supportive place to begin, bringing together people who are newly diagnosed and looking for understanding, reassurance, and connection.

Participants can ask common questions after diagnosis, learn about treatment options and care considerations, talk through day-to-day communication challenges, and connect with others who are at a similar point in their journey.

Sessions are guided by two of our dedicated Area Contact Leaders, Bonnie Simpson and Sue Payne, who bring experience, insight, and a commitment to supporting people in our community.

Weekend Session: Saturday, February 21 | 11:30 AM–12:30 PM EST

Weeknight Session: Wednesday, March 25 | 6:30–7:30 PM EDTRegister for 3/25/26

SUPPORTING THE VOICE JOURNEY: Virtual support meetings for people supporting others with a voice disorder

Supporting someone with a voice disorder can bring new challenges, adjustments, and moments of learning along the way. These virtual meetings offer a dedicated space for communication partners to connect, share experiences, and deepen their understanding of how to support a loved one while navigating changes in communication together.

Communication partners can include spouses, partners, children, family members, friends, and caregivers who support someone living with a voice condition. Participants will explore how voice disorders can affect daily life, discuss practical communication strategies, navigate shifts in relationships and routines, and connect with others who understand the support role. Whether you are just beginning this journey or have been supporting someone for years, you are welcome to join. To keep the focus on communication partners, we encourage you to attend on your own.

These sessions will be guided by New Jersey Support Group Leader Risa Clay and her husband, Michael, who bring lived experience and partnership to help create a welcoming and supportive space for communication partners.

Weekend Session: Saturday, February 28 | 11:30 AM–12:30 PM EST
