Hi there,

I'm very sorry to hear about your mom and her dystonia related problems. I see that you live in the Edmonton, Alberta area. From checking the NSDA website (www.dysphonia.org), there appears to be a movement disorder specialist in Edmonton. I am not familiar with this particular specialist and the NSDA cannot endorse any particular physician referral, but it may be worth your mom's time to get a diagnosis from him. The details are below:

W.R. Wayne Martin, M.D.

U of Alberta/glenrose Rehab. Hospital

Movement Disorder Clinic, Rm 19

10230 111 Avenue

Edmonton, Canada T5G 0B7

Tel: 780-474-8805

Fax: 780-474-8804

Specialty: Neurologist

Administers Botulinum Toxin for: Blepharospasm, Cervical Dystonia (Spasmodic Torticollis), Oromandibular

Additional Procedures: Deep Brain Stimulation, Genetic Testing, Pallidotomy, Physical/Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Thalamotomy

Treats Children

You might also want to post your question on the blepharospasm BB :

http://www.blepharospasm.org/forums/beb/ or the dystonia BB :

http://www.dystonia-bb.org/forums/asd/

These 2 boards specialize more in blepharospasm and dopa responsive dystonia issues, whereas this board is specifically targeted at SD related issues.

Hope this helps,

Lloyd Pearson(BC)Canada AD/SD
