Hi. I am new to the board and have learned alot from the readings. I have just been told I have SD and will have my first Botox injections on Friday the 15th, if the neuro doc thinks it will help. I am really nervous about this. Any advice?

Hi Brenda:

By the time I had my first botox I was ready to do anything to try to improve my voice. I felt like I had tried everything else. It was a godsend. I could talk normally again! For some people it doesn't work. Fortunately for me, it works quite well. My doc gave it through the mouth at first and now gives it to me via emg through the neck.

I wish you well. Try not to be frightened. It may be the answer to your prayers, as it was for me.

Hi Helen,

I received so much support from this group! My first injections were done in my neck and despite a little discomfort were nothing like I imagined. I am in the breathy stage right now but already have an easier time talking. I cn live with the tremors as long as I don't have to fight my body to talk. Thank you so much for the support!
