I am trying another Botox shot today. After 3 years of shots that didn't work, the injection I had in July took somewhat. Not as well as the injections that I had had over the previous 10 years. I am hoping this one today takes at least as well as the one in July and I have a month or so reprieve from the spasms. Another reason I really hope it takes is that I am visiting my Grand babies in Wisconsin in a couple of weeks. My grand-son has never heard me talk without the spasms, as the Botox quit working about the time he was born. I was able to squeeze a theater production in on this last injection before my voice became too bad. Lucky I was playing the part of an 80 year old woman with Alzheimer's so the quality of my voice didn't have to be great. When it cracked or sounded strange it fit in with the character. I have been offered some up coming roles, but told the directors to ask me again just before going into rehearsal to see what kind of a voice I have. Wish me luck. Ida, I just said a prayer for you that your injection will work today. You will definely be in my thoughts as I go through my day. I sure hope it works so that you will be able to talk to those grandbabies of yours in a couple of weeks. I know how important that is. Ida, You'll be in my thoughts and prayers today. I so hope this injection is successfuly, especially since you'll be with your grandchildren. I have 3 grandsons (soon to be four) and I know how important it is to be able to talk to them and read to them. I've only had this disorder for about a year. Ida, You bet! You're a real inspiration, with your theater work. I couldn't do that even with a perfect voice. Pretty weird, since both my mother and my oldest son are stage actors. The "acting-gene" (or "bug") seems to have skipped me. Keep us posted on your latest shot and, also, as to what your grandson says. Little kids always tell it like it is. did you say 10 units. sure sounds like a lot. I have only been having 3. I have another shot next Friday so I hope your thoughts will be with me as my thoughts and prayers are also with you. I am also from Iowa. Dont know if you visited the chat room Tues but I posted as Char. It was very enjoyable. This week has been very frustrating so I am ready for a good voice again. Yes, 10 units on each side. I have had injections for 10 years and seem to be building an immunity to the Botox. I am not sure this one took, yet, although I am experiencing some relief from the spasms. My thoughts and prayers will be with you next Friday when you have your shot. Thank you for yours.
