Re: Self-injection kit now available in pharmacies!
I find it very interesting that this kit does not include a hollow needle for use with an EMG machine and all its accesories (which should also be included in the kit). Then, there's the issue of lidocaine. I didn't see that mentioned here. Last, I hope that they amend their instructions to the correct method involved in botox injections. More specifically, that botox is not injected into the vocal folds, but instead into the muscles which control the vocal folds (i.e., the thyroaryteniod(s) and/or posterior cricoaryteniod(s), among others in some instances).

Re: Self-injection kit - very funny Ha Ha Ha
Richard,
In case there are any new people on the bulletin board, we should make it clear that your posting was a joke. BOTOX is still a prescription medication and can only be administered by a medical doctor. I doubt that will ever change. But I do appreciate your sense of humor. And you are dead-on correct that BOTOX is about to be way over-prescribed. With the recent approval of BOTOX for cosmetic treatment by the US Food and Drug Administration, we are about to see the floodgates opened to widespread use of BOTOX for removal of wrinkles. This is very unwise in my opinion. As one of the physicians said at the Scottsdale Symposium, we really don't know the long-term effects of repeated BOTOX injection. People sometimes think I'm a BOTOX advocate because I helped write the NSDA brouchure "Your BOTOX injection...what to expect". The fact is I receive BOTOX only because there isn't any other treatment for SD that works for me and I have tried a lot of things. I would never have BOTOX injected for something trivial like wrinkle removal. Best,

Yeah, I can't understand why anyone would consider injecting a TOXIN into themselves for no medically necessary reason. I mean, yeah, it's great for dystonia and everything, and the only thing that seems to work for some things, but it's still a toxin, and just becuase the amonts that are used in dystonia treatment are small, and considered safe, doesn't mean that it's not still a toxin. Perhaps with all the rage over Botox injections for getting rid of wrinkles, Allergan will be able to reduce the price for us SD users.

Re: Self-injection kit now available in pharmacies!
Anyone see the reference to Botox and cosmetic uses (as well as storing botox in the person's home fridge) on CSI last night?
Re: Self-injection kit now available in pharmacies!
I did. And, the interesting is, I'd never watched "CSI" before but I was at a friend's watching "Survivor" (which I'm addicted to) and with the Botox-references on CSI coming immediately after the end of "Survivor," I got stuck watching the whole show! Gosh, how they suck us in.Good you mentioned this, Kim. We have to continue to keep each other posted on these things (if only for a full record of backup material for our own media blitz). Thanks.
