Hi all..I had another injection Monday and am now in my Minnie Mouse voice stage. In about a week it will change to more of a MICKEY Mouse, then sort of a Truman Capote....then in about 2 months I'll be Joe Cocker again. Somewhere during that 3 month window, with any luck, I will sound semi normal for a fleeting moment. But the best part is aspirating on liquids....priceless.
have a good weekend everybody.

Re: Minnie Mouse voice..
Howdy Gavin. We haven't met but I love your sense of humor. Which voice will you use to explain to these nice people what FUBAR stands for?????? I nearly aspirated on that:)
I have 3 sons. I know these things.

Re: Minnie Mouse voice..
Gloria,Depends on who you are talking about when you say "censors." Believe me, the Moderators of this Board are very generous with free speech. Re FUBAR (no 4-letter words here - just acronyms), I totally understand it and am in a current military (USMC) and previous military family. Since I was 21. Most of my life. Long-term. Never been in the Corps myself but when all the people around you (husbands and sons) are USMC, you're "militarily-influenced." John Beeman would definitely know what I'm talking about. Hey John...donde esta? Semper Fi...but making SD-contacts is what this BB is about. FUBAR or otherwise. --Lynne
Re: Minnie Mouse voice..
Okay, I thought I'd seen or heard just about everything, but I don't know what FUBAR means.... and the closest I get to Marines is going to the beach near Camp LeJeune, Jacksonville, N Car. every summer. So will someone please email me and make me blush? :) Susan.
Re: Minnie Mouse voice..
Hi Susan,It's not worthy of blushing. Just a well-known acronym if you are in a certain age-experience range. Also, I think it may be "American" so it's not expected that anyone outside the US (or outside the 60's generation or the VietNam generation or the military) would necessarily know it. Write me off the BB if no one else answers you. They can't on the BB. I thought everyone knew what FUBAR meant. Oh well. Guess not. I learned something today. Gavin Hadley is my age and I think he's pretty funny and I also learned that folks outside all of our "age and life-experience range(s)" sometimes don't have a clue what we are talking about. Interesting lesson in cultural diversity and age diversity and disability diversity (SD) and all of that. The people who "know FUBAR" have walked in each other's mocassins today. Funny. --Lynne

Re: Minnie Mouse voice..
Gavin--I loved your descriptions of your Botox experience. I had my first Botox yesterday for my AD SD and am still waiting for something noteworthy to happen. I did come home and write up my experience since there was definitely some comic relief. An SD buddy from my hometown in Omaha e-mailed me that the standard greeting in her Botox clinic was, "I hope you choke". Well, I'm off on a BB search of immediate post-Botox reactions and I plan to roll with the punches. By the way, I come from a long line of conscientous objectors and know about FUBAR. Maybe its my old hippie days. Anyway, keep the humor coming. Francie Hornstein in Oakland, CA
Re: Minnie Mouse voice..
I love the "i hope you choke". Practically choked laughing about it. It'd be great as a refrigerator magnet. Or as a conference song opener... there was a song out not long ago "I hope you Dance"... maybe the words could be changed.
I was just a beach girl in the 60's and 70's... too naive to really get what was going on in the world... until 1973 when I awoke to the joys of SD... grew up fast then.
Still don't know what FUBAR means, so I'm off to email Lynne.
It's a beautiful day in the Rocky Mountain region. Susan
Re: Minnie Mouse voice..
Lynne, sorry about this. How do I write you off the BB? I'm still sort of new here.
Thanks, Susan

Re: Minnie Mouse voice..
Susan, I'm from the UK and I know what FUBAR means. If you watch the movie "Saving Private Ryan" there is a full explanation as to what FUBAR means. I hopefully will retain my gentleman status here by giving it away and must put you out of your misery explaining that the last four letters of this acronym is ------ UP BEYOND ALL RECOGNITION! This no doubt relates to all our voices on the BB. David
Re: Minnie Mouse voice..
David, thank you.... now I know. I guess I'll have to watch "Saving Private Ryan". My husband is, like you, a Brit, but I guess he surrendered his "gentleman status" when he emigrated to the US.Susan

FUBAR mystery explained......drum roll please..................
Fouled Up Beyond All Repair......cymbals/rim shot
Re: Minnie Mouse voice..
Gavin,Had to admit, I was also very curious as to the meaning of FUBAR. My husband was in the Army and he didn't know either. (Although he said he knew what the F probably stood for.) Guess it is always good to learn something new(?). Don't think I will be using this new knowledge much, but I am glad the mystery is solved. HA! Hope your voice is doing well by now. I remember those Botox days all too well. Barb
