Hi!
I am at the age where I want to have children. I worry about getting my botox shots while I am trying to get pregnant and during pregnancy. Have some of you had botox while in this stage of your life? Have any of you experienced any problems or side effects? What advice do your doctors give you? --Amy S.

Amy,

Welcome to the SD bulletin board. We have recently had several posts as part of a thread with the exact same title. You can find good information on this subject, from SD'ers who have been through the same thing recently and had to make the same decisions, re Botox. Click on "Find" (at the top of the Index Page), or clicking on this link below will take you to the recent posts.

Best wishes for a future baby.

Hi Amy!

Yes, I am at the same stage as you although I do already have one daugher. I am due for my first botox injection next week and have decided to wait and see how I react to that. I am hoping it will work. (The botox that is!)

We have also decided that when we do try for another baby I will stop the botox. Although most of the literature I have read points to no conculsive evidance regarding abnormalities and botox, I personally feel its just not worth taking any risk. I feel that although life with SD is difficult, it is far better than risking your baby's life.

Pregnancy and breat feeding isnt forever (although sometime it might feel that way) so I feel for that 9 months plus feeding its just not worth any risk of Botox. Of course this is just my opinion.
Hope all goes well. Its a difficult decision.

Louise.

Thank you for your reply! I have found the same information with my research. There really isn't enough information on the side effects. I too waited. I had my first daughter June 12th and I waited to receive my first botox treatment until after my pregnancy and after I breastfeed for two months. I feel good about my decision to wait. Now, I wonder how long I should be off botox before I try to have another child. Does anyone know? Amy S
