Sandy,Some of us snort and some of us squeak and some of us can't breathe (tons of phleghm we have to get rid of) and some of us sound gravelly and some of us sound hoarse and some of us have such severe spasms that we can't say our own name. SD runs the spectrum. Welcome.
This is truly the best place to meet people who deal with similar issues; but, all of our SD cases are different and it's never easy. Good luck in getting the answer to your "why" question. My guess is...if you stick with it...your answers will most likely come from this Bulletin Board OR from attending a symposium, where you can meet 150 SD patients in person, face-on. Often easier than finding a doctor who can figure it out.
Happy New Year and good luck in obtaining your answer. If you are anywhere close to Arizona (or you can fly) come March...you could meet others at the March 9th symposium who might share this issue. Please share your location and condition at the bottom of your post so that folks can more aptly answer your post. Take care.
