I am scheduled for my first Botox shot next week. I have heard about possible issues with swallowing liquids and have concerns about taking medications. For those of you that have had swallowing issues, where you able to swallow pills during this time? I have a couple of small prescription pills that I take along with larger vitamins and supplements.

Hello, I have found jutting your chin forward really helps when swallowing pills. Good luck with your injection!

I have adductor SD and receive BTX injections. I take purposeful swallows, lean forward, and tuck my chin a little for a few days after an injection. I have only had one injection where I had to do anything different to swallow my medication. In that case, I took my pills in a small amount of pudding. That worked well for me.

I have been receiving BTX for several years and find that anytime that I am having difficulty swallowing liquids (including when taking pills), I use a straw, tuck my chin and (close my eyes to concentrate) and sip through the straw. Too fast causes my airway to close off.
Straw phonation also helps best when doing speech therapy, as well.
Hope this helps.
