I was diagnosed with dysphonia in 1995. It began to show itself in 1992 but I had no insurance so I dealt with it until I had a good job and benefits and was able to find out what was going on. After drugs (klonopin and the like), botox etc.. I was pretty much done with the list of options. Drugs worked for a period of time (usually up to 8 weeks) and then symptoms recurred. And of course the side affects of most of the drugs were as bad or worse than the condition itself. After extended research of my own I've decided to try the newest option for seizure type conditions and have started a regime involving CBD. I'm using the Hemp derived extract. This is the second day of treatment for me so I'll be keeping close track of the results. If anyone has any interest or personal information on this topic please let me know. I'll be updating with results as I see them. Modified by rdcrawford at Mon, Jun 30, 2014, 21:58:42 |

So here I am at day 4 of using vaporized CBD for my S.D. My voice appears to get a little better each day. I wasn't going to post after the first 2 days as I'm all to familiar with placebo affects and of course the occasional "good voice" day. The product that I'm using has a fairly low CBD content and I've ordered a more concentrated product to try that. Words starting with "he" and other similar sounds still get caught up once in a while, but after this many years, even when a new product is working there is still years of learned speaking behaviors to unlearn. I must say that I'm very positive about what I've seen thus far. More to come. |

I have been doing a lot of reading about CBD and was wondering if anybody had tried it? Let us hear more as you continue to use it if it has lasting effects? It is being used for epilepsy in other countries and now North Carolina. Thanks for sharing! Don |

I've stepped up to a somewhat higher concentration of the CBD in a different carrier medium. I'm now about a week and a half into the CBD use and the voice continues to get better on a daily basis. Today was the clearest yet and even after using my voice all day, I feel no throat strain and I didn't have to repeat myself once today. Still lovin this. |

CBD is a cannabis product (marijuana). I think this is a low THC product that doesn't get you "high", but gives you the medical benefits. Someone please correct me if Im wrong. |

Haven't noticed any recent updates on your success with CBD. Are you still seeing improvement? Or has the ubiquitous placebo effect (that we know so frequently) reared its head? I'd love to hear more. Thx!

Please give us an update on how the cbd is working for you. Also are you talking about the hemp oil or the cbd mj that you can put in a vaporizer and inhale? |

So here I am, long overdue. I've spent a bit of time (and money) checking out CBD options. I've tried the usual vaporizer options (drops for e-cigs etc..) and found them to help but too dilute. I had to use so much that I would get an irritated throat. I now have a very concentrated oil (paste really) for vaporizing and it helps quite a bit without needing very much. I'm not sure what's allowed for posting yet co I'll just state that I'm using a 16% CBD hemp extract that Is reasonably priced. The sources are aplenty online for high cbd extracts and the prices are pretty high. I'm liking the vocal improvement and especially the more relaxed throat. |

rdcrawford, So good to get your reply in my email! Happy to know you are having good results. A more relaxed throat must be nice. Mine gets so tight when I try to speak. I found lots of concentrated CBD oils but not 'pastes'. Did you ever try any CBD oils under your tongue? I don't own a vaporizer and they confuse me really as there are so many different ones. I am an older woman so this is all new to me. I found online a High CBD Hemp Oil that is in a syringe type looking container. Expensive but had good reviews. Thank you for being our 'test person'! Best wishes to you rdcrawford for continued improvement. Modified by Moderator-DB at Thu, Jan 29, 2015, 13:04:09 |

I'm very interested in this - we are thinking of exploring a topical delivery - a CBD cream or salve. I'm wondering did you try this method? The vaping is a good idea I hadn't considered, but just smoking it doesn't seem to have any effect (at least on the SD ;) ). Thanks for any further insight you can share. |

I have tried using the oil sublingually also with good results. The biggest problem for me continues to be cost. If the USA would get on board to allowing farmers to grow Hemp (not marijuana but the fiber plant) for the CBD we could take care of the costs associated and get more help for more people. Not just S.D. but the children with violent seizures etc.. CBD is a known treatment for many disorders and more research needs to be done. Funny that the only medical application based patents are owned by the US government. |
