Has anybody has an adverse voice reaction to the use of Splenda (sucralose). I was using a large amount of Splenda for many years. My symptoms started about 7 years ago (e.g., swollen tongue, tightness of lips, mouth, neck and eventually a complete voice loss. Most doctors have given up on me. Even a world-class specialist in adductor spasmodic dysphonia in New York is baffled by my poor response to Botox injections to the "voice area". I recently cut out Splenda completely and it is only two weeks and I already feel much better (e.g., tongue more normal, less muslce tightness in my face and neck and a bit of my voice coming back, despite the fact that the Botox has worn off by now. Any feedback about this would be greatly appreciated. I am afraid if I mention this my doctors would think I am "out of my mind". Actually, I have a very extensive scientific background. Thanks, |

When I stopped using Splenda my swollen tongue became more normal and my face and neck muscles were softened. I also had an overall improvement in my sense of well-being. However, there was only a small improvement in my voice. Ir is now only two weeks since I stopped using Splenda and I am continuing to monitor my voice. I consider that I was using a very large amount of Splenda over many years and it may take time to get over the toxic effects, if that is the cause. Has anybody had a similar expeerience. Thanks for your input. |

I have not; but this sounds very interesting. I wonder if others have experienced this. |

Well, I've had spasmodic dysphonia for 26 years and have never used Splenda. Have you tried increasing your botox dose to 5 units? |
