1.Has anyone had trouble with their insurance paying for the botox injections?
2.Is any Doctor on the east coast doing the SLAD/R Surgery? |

Someone told me: Dr. Young Kim, otolaryngologist at Johns Hopkins Medical Center, Baltimore, MD specializes in laryngeal disorders and routinely performs laryngeal surgeries, including SLAD-R. I personally used Dr. Berke at UCLA because he pioneered and perfected the surgery. The surgeon is more important than the surgery. Regarding botox and insurance. I've known several insurance companies that fight paying for the injections because they are not knowledgeable about the practice. It's best to have your doctor call their doctor and explain the necessity for the shots. |

I underwent SLAD/R with Dr. Berke in Feb 2011. I'm very pleased with the result, although my recovery was a bit on the long side. I kept a blog of the surgery and recovery so you can read my complete story, including pre and post voice samples at various intervals. www.spasmodicdysphoniasurgery.com.
