| Is it common for people with adsd to have a sore throat? |  | ||

I'm newly diagnosed and I'm full of questions at this point. Do most people with sd have a sore throat? My throat is constantly sore but it has a different feel than your typical "I'm sick and my throat hurts" type of feeling. Its fairly mild but seems to always be there. Perhaps its from the strain of trying to talk. Also on both sides of my throat it is tender. Just curious if others have this.

Before I was diagnosed with SD I had a terribly sore throat constantly. I was popping cough drops or sprays all throughout the day trying to find some sort of relief, and the doctors were never able to tell me why my throat was so sore all of the time. Once I was diagnosed with SD (no firm diagnosis of absd or adsd) and began Botox treatment, I haven't really had a sore throat since. The doctor who diagnosed the SD said I was starting to get nodules on my vocal chords from misusing my voice by straining so hard to try to speak. |

I didn't have a sore throuat but did have a sore neck and shoulders. This comes from straining to talk. I have given this advice to several others and offer it up to you..... You can learn a great deal about SD by reading the NSDA published book, "Easier Done than Said - Living with a broken voice" by Karen Adler Feeley.
