I have this pain too, especially when initiating voice. Its not there all the time but can be very painful at times. I find using a sugar free menthol cough drop helps.

Yes, I have the same thing - one side or the other. A laryngenial massage helps; holding down the larynx when speaking helps, massaging right at the point of discomfort, getting in there bz there's a knot that has developed and you have to work it out - helps. Getting to a chiropractor who can manipulate your neck and reduce the strain has helped. I'm at the same point right now, injection next Wednesday and just took 2 ibuprofen which will help the inflammation the pain is causing. My pain goes from one side to the other and is inconsistent with occurrence. I also find that sucking on a throat numbing lozenge helps as well as Altoids mints! Don't ask...don't know!

I will definitely try these things. And it's nice to know others experience the same problem. This isn't something I had read about so really had me wondering. Thanks!

Hi there,
Hope some of those prior suggestions are working for you. I too have had a sore throat when the Botox has mostly left my system. In addition I get headaches. Muscle relaxents are my preferred strategy. Whistling also helps me to relax my throat muscles. I don't know if it's because it activates the diaphram to support speaking or if it requires different muscles. Good luck there. Hope you find some relief.

I've had this for years now and it can be so painful like right now. I'm due for botox next week and those muscles are just so tense. I can consciously relax them if I think about it but then they tighten right back up when I'm not focused on them. It doesn't help that I have fibromyalgia so the muscles don't have any recovery time. I also have a lot of post nasal drip so I clear my throat a lot which leads to scratchiness and more pain. I basically try not to talk much and use the cough drops, drink water and massage the muscles. It hurts so bad tonight that I feel nauseous. Wish there was some remedy.
