Hello, I have had SD-AD for 22 years and have had Botox injections successfully for the past 20 yrs at Emory Clinic-Emory Voice Center Atlanta GA. Now I find out that the Voice Ctr is no longer accepting my insurance (strange huh? but typical!)

So, I had initial visit yesterday with Dr. Postma in Augusta GA. He found that in addition to the SD-AD, I have a vocal tremor and suggested 3 Botox shots instead of the 2 I've been getting in each side. For this treatment, he would give the shots by going down my throat, one on either side plus in the center-palate area.

Has anyone any experience in having Dr Postma treat their SD at the Medical College of GA ENT Clinic in Augusta?

Anyone had Botox for both tremor and SD? Good results for tremor?

Thanks

Dr Postma was a Baptist Hospital (Wake Foreat University) in Winston-Salem, NC for many years before moving to GA. I had many injections from him and almost all worked very well. I have AD/SD that was not responding to botox when I started going to him.

I had the unilateral SLAD surgery last Tuesday at UCLA by Dr. Berke. One of the associate doctors that works under Dr. Berke, Scott Howard, will be relocating to Augusta Ga. sometime in August. He said that he will be able to do this surgery once he gets set up there. I don't know if he will also be doing Botox injections but I would assume so.

Best wishes,
Mike

Do you have contact information for Scott Howard. Augusta would work for me much better than California, which I can ill-afford. I live in Canton, Ga.

Did the SLAD/R solve your SD? Are you AD/SD?

Thanx.

I had the unilateral done on June 8th and Dr. Scott Howard assisted. It was Dr. Howard that explained everything to me and answered my questions. He will be working out of the Medical College of Georgia and at Fort Gordon. Email me at watersrm1usa@yahoo.com and I'll give you his contact info.
Right now its too soon to tell if the surgery is going to provide some relief. Picaso had his done last December and says he is getting benefits from his.

I have SD and Essential Tremor. I just had a shot of botox in one cord and a lesser dose in the other cord. It's been two weeks today and I still have a tremor in my voice. I'm scheduled to see a neurologist the fifteen of next month. I'm hoping for some results because it is getting more difficult to talk and to write.

Before I changed to this doctor, I had larger dosages given in Maryland and it calmed the tremor but I completely lost my voice for three weeks and had choaking problems.

I have been getting botox injections at the Medical College of GA (MCG) for a number of years. Dr. Postma is very knowledgeable and very patient oriented. Normally he works in tandem with a neurologist whenever I get my shots. One thing I like is he doesn't give a numbing shot before the injection. Since the botox injection is no more worse than the numbing shot why get two.
