In September, I had my second set of botox injections, just three days after having a flu shot. Although the first set of injections went well, this time I totally lost my voice and had swallowing problems for a month. I never associated the problems with a flu shot/botox interaction, but just saw the following information: http://www.dystonia-foundation.org/pages/botulinum_toxin___flu_vaccine/555.php The article advised about allowing at least two weeks between botox injections and flu shots. Has anyone else had any problems associated with botox injections and flu shots done close together? It might be coincidence, but the last reaction has made me rather cautious about getting my next botox injections.

I have just found this information regarding the flu shot and botox injections which are done close together having issues. I have had injections for almost 24 years, they are unilateral injections and my breathy period never lasts more than a few days. Less than 2 weeks before getting my last botox injection I did received a flu shot. My breathiness and horseness has lasted 10 weeks! Extremely unusual for me. My voice starting to "resolve" but still has issues. I am not hesitant to get another injection when needed but will talk to my Dr. about all this. I hope others weigh in on the subject. I've been VERY puzzled about why my unusal period of breathiness and this might be the explanation. I'd be interested and grateful to hear others on this. |
