I have been watching this show lately because we have some weddings coming up in the family. I think Joan? Joanne? who is one of the bosses at the wedding dress shop has SD. She seems a little young for essential tremor.

Anyone know for sure?

I have wathed that show for a couple of seasons & I immediately thought Joan had AB/SD. I went on the TLC website to look @ her profile & there was nothing mentioned. Bu Kudos to her for being on national television & for Klienfelds for keeping her on staff. I was in real estate & was told by my boss several times that my voice was a problem for co-workers & customers. Please post if you find anything out.

I agree, that she is to be commended, but also she is a fine role model for all of us. In this media driven age, the more people who get out there with their voices, no matter how they sound, the more acceptance there will be for the rest of us.

Instead of, "What's the matter with you?" The comment may become, "Oh, you sound just like _____________."

I am eagerly awaiting that day!

I love that show and thought the same thing! And I also thought how wonderful that she's working there and they all accept her. I think we all fear rejection but most people are fine with us sounding different.

Hi. I like that show also. I was diagnosed this summer, and I find that people are unusually kind about my SD. They don't even ask what is wrong or anything, even though my voice cracks and is very strange sounding. I recently got my first botox, and people were so attentive that I was just amazed. Even when my voice was just barely above a whisper, people would listen very attentively so they could understand me. I have found this message board very helpful.

Do you ever watch Intervention? One of the intervention counselors seems to have SD. The guy with the dark hair. At times his voice will be different, different stages of botox. He isnt on all the time. But I love to hear him. Hope everyone had a great Christmas..the holidays can be hard because it is so hard to be heard in a room full of talking people, and music! One of my New Year resolutions is to try to accept this darn disorder better! I have too much pride ,I think and always hate the way I sound in front of others. And isolate out of certian situations which is keeping me from living my life to the fullest.
