The UK Dystonia Society publish a quarterly magazine with various articles relating to Dystonia. The last issue focused on SD, or Laryngeal Dystonia as it's called, here in the UK. There are some really good articles, from leading SD Consultants in the UK, Mr Gerald Brookes and Mr Maurice Hawthorne and one by Dr Whurr, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist on 'Helpful Hints'. Dr Whurr draws on exerpts from an information pamphlet produced by Norma Barer and William Vanderlinde. There is also a really interesting article regarding a lady who was speechless for 13 years, until she recently was diagnosed with SD and recieved her first botox injections, and she now has a voice again. There is also an article on Alternative Therapies concerning the work of Connie Pike. The NSDA SD Bulletin Board is referred to seceral times as a good resource for people with SD ofering advice and support. The link for the UK dystonia Society is: www.dystonia.org.uk Some of you may have already have had an opportunity to read the newsletter, but I will see if there is a way we can get an electroninc copy of the newsletter attached here on the BB, for anyone else interested. With best wishes to everyone, Snowie
