Has anyone ever researched a possible link between SD & mercury poisoning?

Mercury itself is a known neurotoxin. I have followed the controversy over dental mercury amalgams with interest, and decided to have my many amalgams out 10 years ago. Dr. Hal Huggins in Colorado developed a protocol for mercury amalgam removal and had considerable hassle from the State Board over his position. Yet many dentists now won't use mercury in their work. The ADA and CDA still insist that mercury is safe in the amounts used. Still can't figure out why it is considered hazardous waste once it is removed from one's mouth! My voice improved to some degree after I had my amalgams out but I still have SD and am considering my options.

I have had a lot of trouble with my teeth over the years. I have very soft teeth and by 1972 all of my jaw teeth had been filled with mercury fillings. I had always been healthy but by that time I began to have less energy and in general felt miserable. My dentist and I decided that my health problems might be coming from my bad teeth. I went to the hospital and had all my jaw teeth taken out. I was very sick afterwards and the dentist was very glad I had gone into the hospital. Once out of the hospital my health drastically improved. I had my front teeth capped which removed all the fillings with mercury. The dentist used gold in the caps.

In Mar.,1987, it had been 25 years since the previous major dental work. I decided to have the caps redone which went from four to six front teeth. Immediately after having this dental work completed I began to have all kinds of health problems - - numbness in my arms and hands
- severe pain in my back which lasted two to
three days at a time
- spasms of pain in my legs making it difficult for me
to walk.
- the feeling of pins sticking in my head
- in May, 1987 I started losing my voice
- dizziness

A neurologist said I had carpal tunnel syndrome and spinal senosis (sp?) and I would only get worse as time went on. He laughed when I asked if the problem could be coming from my teeth.

I had never been sick in my life. I kept thinking about this and wondering what I had done to my body. The only thing I had changed was my dental work. I started researching dental problems and talked with a number of people who had recovered from serious illness after removing their fillings. I contacted my dentist and found that he had put a mixture of 13 metals in my mouth(before I had gold). After having a lot of testing done, I found my body did not accept most of these metals. I had all of the metal taken out of my mouth and within six months all of the problems mentioned above were gone except I did not get my voice back. I went from doctor to doctor trying to get my voice back and eventually wound up at the National Institute of Health enrolled in their BoTox research program. Did the mercury and the metals cause my voice problem? I still don't know.

Hi, Just noticed the information on mercury poisoning and found it very interesting that just yesterday I met a woman with very many health problems (not SD) who has been diagnosed with mercury poisoning. She has already had two fillings out and is scheduled to get the remaining ones out next week. Already she sees a difference in how she feels (to the better) Luckily for me she has given me the name of the doctor who did her testing and is helping her and I will get a referral to him immediately. It got me to thinking that over ten years ago I had to have all my teeth removed and ever since then I had nothing but problems and illnesses. I always have had a "phantom pain" and then started with TMJ pain in the jaw and was treated that for years. Because my dentures would not stay in due to not having enough gum for them to adhere to we decided to go with three implants on the bottom. The surgery was extremely successful but I immediately started with Burning Mouth Syndrome and even the tiniest bit of sugar or sweetness triggers it. My dentures fit so well but due to the burning still cannot wear them. After thousand of dollars in dentures and implants - I often wondered if I was somehow allergic to what the implants are made of. Will now make it my first item to check into tomorrow. Also noticed another strange thing that whenever I try to chew (without my dentures of curse) the burning mouth gets worse and so does my voice. The doctor who does my botox in London, Ont. says he cannot do anything about my choking (food gets stuck no matter how tiny it is)and my breathing is sometimes so scary as I struggle to get my breath. Very, very frustrated and wondering if it is time to change doctors. Thanks so much for the info on mercury poinsoning - thank God for your support.
