Refreezing of Botox

Ingvar,

I was curious about your question of refreezing Botox so I wrote to Allergan and asked. I knew that reconstituted Botox should be used within 4 hrs. and kept in the refrigerator. Their reply: "We advise the administration of BOTOX® within four hours after the vial is reconstituted. During these four hours, reconstituted BOTOX® should be stored in a refrigerator (2º to 8ºC)."

However, I didn't know that reconstituted Botox could or should be frozen. Their reply: "After reconstitution BOTOX® should
only be stored in a refrigerator (2º to 8ºC) for up to four hours." So, it sounds like refreezing is a "no-no". In the powdered form, it must be kept frozen as I used to pick my own up from the pharmacy and it always had labels all over the insulated container saying, "KEEP FROZEN".

Thanks for bringing this up and perhaps we should give our doctors this message if they don't already know.

Doris

Doris.
I definetly believe refreezing of Botox is a "no-no". When treated with Botox yesterday I ordered 0,4 U per cord of "fresh Botox". My MD looked embarrassed and did not say anything.
