No, I have never experienced excessive throat clearing related to SD.

My wife, who does not have SD, periodically experiences excessive throat clearing after drinking milk or eating dairy products.

I have also experienced throat clearing when I drink. It is common to have choking on fluids, as well as difficulty swallowing, especially after botox. I dont know what you're experiencing exactly, but I find that I have a tiny bit of fluid that just goes down the wrong pipe...and thats what causes me to cough or clear my throat. I'm not sure why it happens, but the list of side effects my Dr gave to me has that listed on there and has said to me that it is normal.

If I have too much dairy, it will sometimes cause me to feel like my throat is clogged up with gunk, but I've never had to clear my throat because of the SD.

Yes, I do even after having surgery. My voice is good now but certain fluids do cause caughing and choaking. The ones to watch out for are dairy products (food or drink) and most citrus and soda's. I think its pretty common.

I clear my throat all of the time. :) I guess this is normal for me. Yet, many people clear their throat too, for many reasons. Sometimes mine itches, or I seem to be trying to cover up my SD, because my words just don't come out right. Yet, after having bilateral shots, with the choking reflex, those were uncontrolable, and always after drinking. That was just a sign that it was working, and it won't last for long.

Hi. I haven't seen a specialist yet so I haven't been diagnosed with SD but I'm certain I have it in some form (if perhaps less serious than others) but I have a massive throat clearing thing.

It happens after eating especially. It only happens after drinking if I haven't had a drink for several hours (say when I was at work) and then it would be like a shock to my throat to be given a drink and it would need to be cleared for some reason.

Also every morning when I wake up I have to cough and clear my throat for about 2 hours constantly before I feel like I've dislodged what has maybe collected from during the night before.

Just my own little self-diagnosis! :P
