Hello, I am moving to LA in a month or two and am going to need a good doc for injections. I have a shot scheduled this wednesday with Dr. Michael Rontal in MI, so I know I can ask him for some references but would appreciate any info anyone might have. I imagine UCLA or USC will have some great ENTs. Thanks!

Daniel 23 years old. AD/SD since Nov '04

Daniel,
Here is a good one that I have gone to in Orange at the UCI Medical Center. (Roger L. Crumley M.D.) He specializes in voice disorders.

Here is a link for him at UCI:

Good Luck,

Daniel,
I just had my first Botox done by Gerald Berke MD, Chief of Head and Neck Surgery at UCLA. He doesn't explain a lot, but maybe he assumed I knew all about it because I'm a nurse (wrong), but his technique was great and I have wonderful results. Barely felt the injections and apparently they were right on the mark.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Hi Alison,
I too went to Dr. Berk at UCLA. I felt he was just wonderful. I starting having botox injections at UC Davis in Sacramento and when I moved down south I checked the internet to find a doctor that did botox. There were several and I didn't know any of them but by chance picked Dr. Berke. I could not believe how easy the procedure was. At Davis I had an injection in my nose, a camera down my nose and they watched the vocal cords to find the right place to inject. It was very stressful and took about 10 minutes. When I first went to Dr. Berke I was shocked at the simplicity. No equipment, just the needle and bam bam it was done. I asked him if he knew anything about the surgery and he said that he is the one who developed it. We talked quite awhile and he gave me some information, sent me a video and I thought about and prayed about it for a long time before I made the decision. I believe I had three botox injections because I decided to have surgery. I had surgery November 29th. of 2006 and have been thrilled with it. The botox was great but temporary. It has been very surprising to me to find out how many people have SD. I had it for almost 30 years before I knew what it was but I have made some good friends that share my disorder and just know that I am not the only one has been great. I pray that you continue to have good success with botox or whatever you may decide to do in the future.
Many blessings,
Barbara White / god4m@comcast.net

Hi Barbara,
My experience was like yours, I think.
I had visions of tubes and all kinds of equipment down ny nose and worked myself into a pretty good anxiety state before the whole consult. I could NOT believe how simplt it was, Dr. Berke just palpating the area and zip zip the shots were done! Guess that's why he's the Chief of Head and Neck Surgery at UCLA.
