At one time on this BB, there was mention of a study being conducted about a drug that is often found in cough medicine that seemed to have a positive effect on SD. I'm sorry that I can't remember the exact name, but I think it is DXM (dextromethorphan). Does anyone remember this and if so, are there any updates on the study?

thanks

Hi Jerrylee! This study is still being conducted by the National Institutes of Health. To read the protocol for this study, go to www.nih.gov and type in "spasmodic dysphonia" in the search. There are several studies listed. The one you refer to is:

Clinical Study 03-N-0119, The Effects of an NMDA-Receptor Antagonist in Idiopathic Voice Disorders.
