Laryngitis and SD

I was wondering if anyone else out there has had this experience: Whenever I get a cold, I immediately get a sore throat, followed by hoarseness which gradually turns into laryngitis. This time I've been unable to speak above a whisper for the last three days. This is a common occurance for me. Not only is it frustrating, it makes my job as a stay-at-home mom quite challenging. (Trying to explain to my four-year-old daughter why I can't read The Little Engine That Could is upsetting for both of us.) Does anyone know if there's a link between SD and laryngitis? Enquiring minds want to know. Thanks!

Do you still have your tonsils? I had to have mine out in Jan. since I was getting so many sore throats. I haven't had a sore throat or fever since. I was just wondering if this was your problem.

I do have my tonsils. I never considered removing them before, but perhaps you've got something there. I'll talk to my doctor about the possibility of kissing them goodbye. Thanks for your input!

It's not a fun recovery and at 35 it takes a while to bounce back. Allergies can also cause sore throats, but in my case they came all too frequently and I had "mystery fevers" that would almost be a constant. Do talk to your doctor about it. It's something to consider.

ever since I was a little kid, whenever I get a cold, I get largynitis and it always lasted for weeks. Hoarse or no voice. And I usually got colds that seemed to last all winter long.

Last winter I stayed healthy all winter long for the first time in my life. This winter, I caught a cold, lost my voice, it never came back and I now have AB/AD SD.

From what I've read, there isn't a causal link, but a coincidence link. In other words, SD frequently starts after an onset of largynitis, but isn't caused by the largynitis.
