Hi,
I don't recall who said that Klonopen had given them 90%
of their voice back. I have been on it for two weeks and after the first day my voice seemed worse. I took half of .5 tab in moring and half at night and no improvement so I started taking 5mgs at night about three nights ago and my voice is just about gone. I would like to give the Klonopen a good chance but if it is getting worse something tells me to STOP taking it!!!! What do you think??? I know you can't give medical advice but has any one had the same reaction.
I had to say something at my music meeting this morning and could hardly croak out what I had to say. I am only 73 but I sound like I'm 103--ugh. HELP I'm at my witts end.
Thanks for letting me talk---what talk--- don't I wish!!!

Hi Wilma,

I wouldn't think an anti anxiety med would make your voice worse but who knows, stranger things have probably happened.

I've been on Klonopen for a couple of months. It's seemed to help my voice in a subtle way but there are still problems. I've been on Zoloft for three weeks now also so we'll see if that helps at all.

If I were you I wouldn't worry. Talk to your doctor on Monday to see what he has to say. I'm assuming that you meant 0.5 mgs instead of 5 mgs in your third sentence (I hope so anyway). That's a pretty small dose so if you want to discontinue taking it I don't think it'll be a problem seeing that you've only been on it for a couple of weeks.

Dave

Klonopin (clonozepam) is not just an anti-anxiety drug. I find it more often identified primarily as an anticonvulsant. It works by slowing nerve impulses from the motor cortex part of the brain.

I agree with you, Dave, that Wilma should not *worry*. My caveat was written also for the other folks who have mentioned trying the drug or who are using it.

Yes Dave--that is what I meant 0.5mgs.
I have been taking 25mgs of Zoloft for almost seven years and I wondered if that was affecting my voice. My Dr says it is such a small amount that he didn't think it would affect it.
thanks for sharing

Hi Wilma,

Stop it now. You probably will not get anything like siezures, etc., though you may have trouble sleeping at first. This drug is not physically addictive, but can be extremely habit-forming. It may be difficult to stop. If this happens, either use all the self control you can muster until it becomes easy to do without, or go to some kind of clinic or doctor. The former method is preferable (to me, at least).

Best wishes,

Thanks Richard and everyone for your concern. Last night was my first night without the "K". I noticed I didn't sleep too good but it wasn't too bad either. I was not on it very long so I think I will be ok but thanks for caring.

Hi Richard,

If you don't mind me asking, how long were you on Klonopin and what was your daily dose.
