Post Botox-lump in my throat

Hi All,
I just had a botox injection on monday and I have this feeling of a lump in my throat. Everytime I get my injection on the right side I choke and it feels like it is going up to my ear. I think the needle hits a nerve. But this time I feel a lump in my throat. After my injection this time I kept coughing for about an hour. I always have a lttle discomfort the first few days. My neck usually feels bruised and a bit sore but never a lump in throat. Has anyone ever had this feeling. What could it be?

Yes, when I had my left cord injected, I experienced a dribbling sensation down inside my throat as the doc was injecting. Immediately afterward and for 3 days thereafter, I had an internal lump in that area which felt sore when I swallowed. If, however, I turned my head and swallowed, I didn't feel it. Muscular knot???

He was considering doing a scope in the throat, but it went away after 3 days.

By the way, I did receive some Botox benefit with my voice, but it lasted barely 7 weeks.

I'm meeting with him in a week to discuss this and to do a re-injection.

Jill

Typically these shots are given "blind" so that the doctor can only rely on the physician reading the scope to determine if he is in the muscle. He does not know "where" in the muscle - centered, to the side, wherever. I have experienced the "lump" sensation, but it always goes away. I don't think I've ever felt the dribble sensation, however.

Marykriss, if you go to this site - http://www.voicedoctor.net/ and click on "Lump in throat" under "Patient Information", it explains the lumpy feeling. Two years ago I had the same thing but mine lasted almost 8 months at which time I asked him to scope me to make sure everything looked all right. Fortunately all was normal and the feeling eventually disappeared on its own.
