I've recently been asked to compile data on the current ages and gender of the SD patients in our on-line support group and thought I would share this with you.

Males: 23%

Females 77%

Oldest age: 87

Upper quartile: 59

Median: 52

Lower quartile: 44

Youngest age: 26

They are taken from our group's active, and current, mailing list. At present this numbers 778. The list is constantly changing as new people join, email addresses bounce, etc.

Bear in mind the age data is for the person's current age, not the age of onset. However it is a good snapshot of the present situation of SD patients on-line. The data is not representative of SD patients who do not have internet access, or who choose to not participate in information gathering.
