Daughter’s Note | Tilson’s Grocery is an old country market that existed in Erwin, Tennessee. Our friend Jerry Tilson asked my father if he would paint a picture of the old country store because it was run by his grandfather many years ago and he was afraid it wouldn’t be around much longer. We all went to Erwin together in 2000 so that Daddy could take photographs of the store. He used the photographs to create this oil painting. The actual painting is quite large – approximately 4 ft x 3 ft. When Daddy was finished with the painting he presented it to Jerry and Traci Tilson as a gift. The prints that were made from the original are much smaller but the incredible amount of detail in the painting is also visible in the prints.
